America’s Goldilocks Syndrome for Teen Pop Stars: When Is It Just Right? Part 2

As far as Miley and Selena go, I totally agree with my co-blogger. They are both adults now and however they want to market themselves is up to them. If parents really have an issue with their young daughters admiring the "new" Miley, then that's an issue they need to work out with their own children. Yes these young ladies are role models, but let's not forget they are also entertainers. The only reason it's a bigger issue compared to when Britney and Christina first started in the industry is because Miley and Selena are STILL Disney stars while breaking out as young adults. Britney and Christina had at least 4 years separation between their Disney years and their young hollywood careers.

Now, do I think that Taylor Swift is behaving too immature for her age and living like she's in a fairy tale? No. Do I think it's all an act? Partially.

Taylor Swift DOES play victim, not through her songs, but just in her general appearance. She's become one of the biggest stars of our time, and yet puts on this act that she's this little unknown girl from Pennsylvania who can't believe she's winning her umpteenth award. When you win your first couple awards, it's natural to have that overwhelming "OMG I can't believe this is happening to me". But when you've been out in mainstream media for over 3 years, won like over 20 awards, it's time to get over it.

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve any of the awards she has won. Don't get me wrong, I am a Taylor Swift fan. But stop with the pity train! Whether your rich or not, you have millions of fans and supporters and your numerous awards prove it!

The one thing that sticks Taylor above all other celebrities is her own loyalty to her fans. She goes up and beyond in pleasing the people who made her what she is today, including stalking and surprising a fan through the mall just because the little girl was wearing a Taylor Swift shirt. If I were walking down the street wearing a Justin Timberlake shirt, I can guarantee he would turn the other way and run as fast as he can.

Now, her numerous awards also proves she's an amazing singer and knows what she's doing. The fact that the "source" of inspiration for her music is from her relationships shouldn't matter because the girl is still throwing out #1 hits. However, I am personally getting tired of the same sounding songs, and I know there's more this girl can do than writing songs only about her love life, and how some boy broke her heart. If you don't start to change your material Taylor, you're gonna end up like this person...

Don't recognize her? She was the singer in the Boy Meets World episode "Shallow Boy", who only had one hit wonders by slamming Eric, and lost all her fame when she no longer had any guy to be the "inspiration" to her guy slamming songs.
